A fine of 2 million euros was imposed on the Palma local police officer who rented out precarious flats to immigrants.
The local police officer arrested for renting storage units to undocumented immigrants faces a fine of between two and three million euros. Sources have confirmed that the Housing Authority has opened disciplinary proceedings against the individual and will impose the corresponding sanction for creating substandard housing conditions in violation of the law. This means fines of between 30,000 and 90,000 euros for each violation. As there are a total of 73 storage units involved (considered unfit for habitation), the total amount will well exceed two million euros.
The agent is also being investigated for harassing one of his female tenants. The incident occurred when the woman paid the demanded amount, but the agent later asked her to pay again. When she refused, he reported her for non-payment. The victim has proof of her payment, which led her to report the agent for harassment as he was persistent and unwanted.
